Dale's youngest team took to the field again for the 4th time this season looking to make in 4 wins from 4 but unfortunately it was not to be their night. Having won the toss, Isaac on his Birthday, put Vernon's in to bat. Vernon's first 2 pairs put in a good run rate with 2 4s and after 7 overs their total stood at 234. Anuk slowed the run rate down with a run out in the 8th to get Dale their first wicket. More followed and Max T on his Dale debut got a wicket as he bowled George in the 10th over. Isaac took the next over and Jayden caught both batters from Isaac's bowling. In the 12th over Niamh gave the home side more hope when she bowled George again.
With Vernon's on 245 with the final pair coming in, Jayden made up for earlier overthrows with 2 fantastic run outs taking the wicket haul to 7. A brilliant final 2 overs from Isaac and Max saw Vernon's achieve a chaseable 245.
Isaac and Anuk came out first and despite Anuk hitting a 4, Isaac was run out leaving Dale on just 203. Niamh and Aurelia came in next and were the only pair not to concede a wicket however bowler Will was on form with the first maiden of the game. At the halfway point Dale had a mountain to climb on just 207 runs. Robert and Sam came in and put in a great effort only for Robert to be run out attempting their first run. A second maiden of the game this time for Harry saw Dale needing 40 runs from the final pair.
Jayden got us off to a good start with 2 runs but was bowled in his first over. Max got his first 3 runs for the club and Jayden managed the only 6 of the match. Dale fell 13 short of the total on 233. A great effort from a team where 3 are new this season and one only played once last season. Next week we are back again this time taking on Penwortham hoping to bounce back.
