U10 vs Grimsargh CC, U10 Softball

A Tight Win for the 10s

Dale gained a hard fought victory against a very strong Grimsargh side who had won all their matches this season. Having lost the toss Dale were put into bat with Jayden and Teddy batting well together. Jayden hit 4 fours including 3 in the 4th over leaving Dale on 226 at the end of the pair.

Robert and Max R came in and after Robert was bowled in the 5th, Max hit a 4 in the 8th to leave Dale on 234 before making way for Aurelia and Chloe. As the 3rd pair came in, some excellent bowling from Jack of Grimsargh saw the first maiden of the game. The girls continued and after Chloe was caught in the 10th, they slowly built the run rate back up to 237.

The final pair of James and Ethan came in and on the second ball James was bowled by Ronnie who took a wicket maiden. Undeterred, the boys worked hard to take a few singles and 2s before Ethan was bowled for the 4th wicket. A final total of 244 set a score that so far Grimsargh had surpassed on every occasion.

Dale started the second innings shakily with all 4 opening bowlers being hit for 4 leaving Grimsargh on 230. The run rate was slowed with Chloe bowling the first wicket in the 6th over followed by a catch by Jayden in the 7th over off Aurelia's bowling. Robert continued the good form conceding just 1 run in the 8th over leaving Grimsargh on 231 at the half way point.

Dale gave away several extras in the next 4 overs and with just 4 overs left they needed wickets to win. Chloe stepped up and her fourth ball resulted in a run out from James and she finished the over by bowling another wicket to leave Grimsargh on 237. Grimsargh climbed their way back to 244 with 2 overs to go but Dale were unlucky not to get a 5th wicket with the ball called no ball.

With the pressure on, Jayden bowled an almost perfect over with 1 wide and a wicket before Teddy stepped up for the final over. With Grimsargh on 242 and 1 ball remaining the game was still in the balance however Teddy kept his cool to take a wicket with the final ball.

Overall a very well balanced match. Dale bowled 1 less extra and Grimsargh ran 4 more runs but the bowling practice paid off with Dale taking 2 more wickets to seal the win. #UptheDale
