The under 10s finally got their season underway at Croston with 2 debutants in Roberts Berry and Isaac Marsh. Having lost the toss they were put into bat with the first pair of Eesa and Teddy getting 22 for 2 leaving Dale on 212 after 4 overs. Next in were a new pairing of Anuk in his second match and Isaac in his first game. The pair added 10 runs but unfortunately lost 3 wickets leaving Dale on 207 at the mid-way point. Robert in his first match and Sam were the penultimate pair and left Dale in a much better position on 221. The batting was complete with Michael and Jayden coming in. The pair finished with the score at 239/5.
Dale started the second innings and looked like they were struggling with Croston on 212 after 2 overs however this was soon rectified with Eesa getting a wicket with his first ball. In the 4th over Anuk took a second wicket for Dale leaving Croston on 211/2. Isaac, Robert and Teddy each conceded only 3 runs each in the next 3 overs and at the halfway point Croston were 225/2. The 10th over saw a change of fortune for Dale with Eesa taking 2 wickets in a row. Great bowling from Anuk in the 11th saw Croston only able to add 1 to their total and then on his Debut, Isaac bowled a wicket maiden. With the final pair taking to the field Croston were on 214/5 and Dale were back in control. Robert and Teddy bowled their final overs with Teddy getting a maiden and leaving Croston on 218/5 with 2 overs left. Up stepped Isaac to add a second wicket to his collection and Anuk finished the bowling with Croston on 217/6.
Overall, it was the work on the bowling in training that won the day. Dales runs made up of 45 extras and 19 runs compared to the 21 extras they gave Croston. The team can be proud of themselves all playing their part. It is hard to pick out a man of the match but Eesa showed why he often plays up for the 12s with 3-2 and Isaac in 1-4 on his debut.
